Overview

This is a walking tour designed for first time visitors to Florence. We will begin at Piazza della Repubblica, the oldest square in the city, where everything began back in the days of Julius Caesar.

Here, you will get an introduction to how Florence rose to power as a city-state during the age of the Renaissance. We will then stroll through the more typical Florentine, narrow medieval roads to discover fantastical places, such as ancient tower-houses.

On this tour, you will walk the same streets as Florence’s leading figures: Dante, the poet and founder of the modern Italian language, the artists Michelangelo and Donatello, the political writer Machiavelli, and the all-powerful Medici family.

By the end of this tour, you will have a deeper understanding of Florence’s history and culture, after seeing it brought back to life right in front of you.
