The fairytale tour - walking Copenhagen in Hans Christian Andersen's footsteps
We follow in Andersen's footsteps from his very first day in Copenhagen in 1819 to the publication of the first four fairy tales in 1835. From penniless teenager to world famous author, from ugly duckling to swan, etc.
The tour takes you through the oldest streets of Copenhagen, past places he lived and buildings that inspired him - and paints you a picture of a very different time and place. Though the streets and buildings are the same, Copenhagen was a very long way from the clean, happy mini-metropolis we know today.
Not only is Hans Christian Andersen a great writer and the most famous Dane ever, his own story is one of the best. You would almost think it was just... a fairy tale.
The tour zigzags from City Hall Square to the picturesque canal street Nyhavn. Places we pass along the way include his first accommodation in the city, the Cathedral of Our Lady, the parliament area, City Courthouse and many more.
We'll make time for a short pit stop/restroom break along the way.
