5-Day Safari Adventure: Samburu, Nakuru & Masai Mara

our adventure begins with a warm welcome and safari briefing from the Jossec Safaris team. Afterward, set out in your 4x4 jeep, heading north to Samburu. The journey offers scenic views of Kenya’s countryside and the majestic Mt. Kenya. Arriving at Samburu Sopa Lodge or its equivalent in time for lunch, you’ll settle into the serene environment before embarking on an afternoon game drive.

Samburu is home to rare and unique wildlife, including the “Samburu Special Five” – Grevy’s zebra, Somali ostrich, reticulated giraffe, gerenuk, and Beisa oryx. Keep an eye out for predators such as leopards and lions as you explore the semi-arid landscape. After an exciting day, return to the lodge for dinner and a restful night surrounded by nature.

After an early morning game drive and breakfast, journey south to Lake Nakuru. Passing through scenic countryside and the breathtaking Rift Valley, you’ll arrive at Ziwa Bush Lodge or its equivalent in time for lunch.

In the afternoon, explore the wonders of Lake Nakuru National Park, renowned for its incredible birdlife, including flamingos and pelicans, and its population of black and white rhinos. You may also spot Rothschild giraffes and lions as they roam the park’s wooded and open grasslands. After an enriching day, return to the lodge for dinner and relaxation.

After breakfast, continue your adventure to the legendary Masai Mara. The drive takes you through the Rift Valley and into the open savannahs. Arriving at Jambo Mara Safari Camp or its equivalent in time for lunch, you’ll prepare for an afternoon game drive.

The Masai Mara is famous for its abundant wildlife, including the Big Five – lions, elephants, leopards, rhinos, and buffalo – as well as cheetahs and hyenas. The rolling plains provide a stunning backdrop for your exploration. After a thrilling day, enjoy dinner and a cozy evening at camp.

Spend a full day immersed in the wonders of the Masai Mara. With a packed picnic lunch, you’ll explore every corner of the reserve, seeking lions hunting, elephants grazing, and herds of wildebeest and zebras. During the migration season (July to October), you may witness the dramatic Mara River crossing – a truly unforgettable sight.

For an added thrill, opt for a hot air balloon safari at sunrise (available at $450 per person). As the sun sets, return to camp for dinner and share stories of the day’s adventures.

After breakfast, enjoy a leisurely morning at the camp, as there’s no game drive planned today. Reflect on the incredible journey you’ve experienced before starting the return trip to Nairobi.
