Kandy, The World Heritage Hill Capital - Day Excursion
Overview
Kandy, the beautiful city is surrounded by mountains, steep sharp cliffs, and the longest river Mahawali. The stronghold of Sinhalese last Kings had fallen to the British Empire in 1815, yet it is the home of the Sacred Tooth Relic of the Lord Buddha. And, is the home of local traditional arts and crafts, folk arts, and Buddhist Temples of Malwathu and Asgiri Maha Vihara. In 1988 Kandy City was added to the list of world heritages as a Living World Heritage.
6:30 am: Meet, welcome, and start the tour (Airport, Sea Port or Hotel in Colombo)
Drive to Kandy, stopping at interesting places, a spice garden, and the Gem Lapidary Workshop & (Optional visits to:- museum in Kandy, Royal Botanical Gardens, etc.)
Reach Kandy around 12:00 Noon.
Visit the Sacred Temple of the Tooth Relic of Lord Buddha, and a panoramic tour around Kandy including a visit to Arthur's viewpoint.
Lunch at a Local Restaurant, Sri Lankan Rice and Curry, or any food you like (Payment Direct)
On the way back visit a Tea Factory and estate (optional if time allowed)
Drive back to Colombo using the Highway (But choose the faster way on Google map since the highway isn't completed yet)
